USS Providence (CL-82)
The USS Providence (CL-82) was a Cleveland-class light cruiser of the United States Navy, launched on December 21, 1943. She was designed for anti-aircraft warfare and surface engagements during World War II. The ship was commissioned on April 24, 1944, and served in the Pacific Theater, participating in various operations, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
After the war, the USS Providence was decommissioned in 1949 and later reactivated during the Korean War. She served in various capacities until her final decommissioning in 1970. The ship was eventually sold for scrap in 1978, marking the end of her naval service.
