USS Patuxent (AO-201)
The USS Patuxent (AO-201) was a fleet oiler of the United States Navy, launched on 15 December 1943. Designed to supply fuel and other essential supplies to naval vessels at sea, she played a crucial role in supporting naval operations during World War II and beyond. The ship was named after the Patuxent River in Maryland.
Commissioned on 30 June 1944, the USS Patuxent served in various theaters, including the Pacific, where she provided logistical support to the fleet. After a distinguished service career, she was decommissioned on 1 July 1970 and later sold for scrapping in 1974.
