USS Nevada
The USS Nevada (BB-36) was a battleship of the United States Navy, commissioned in 1916. It was the first American battleship designed with oil fuel instead of coal, allowing for greater speed and efficiency. The ship played a significant role in both World War I and World War II, participating in various naval operations.
During the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the USS Nevada was heavily damaged but managed to get underway, making it one of the few ships to do so during the assault. After the war, the battleship was decommissioned and eventually sunk as a target during atomic bomb tests in the 1940s, marking the end of its service.
