USS Neosho (AO-143)
The USS Neosho (AO-143) was a fleet oiler of the United States Navy, launched on 28 March 1944. Designed to supply fuel and other essential supplies to naval vessels, she played a crucial role during World War II and the Korean War. The ship was named after the Neosho River in Missouri.
Commissioned on 30 November 1944, the USS Neosho served in various operations, providing logistical support to the Pacific Fleet. After her decommissioning in 1970, she was eventually sold for scrap in 1973. The vessel's contributions to naval operations highlight the importance of supply ships in maintaining fleet readiness.
