USS Kaskaskia (AOG-27)
The USS Kaskaskia (AOG-27) was a gasoline tanker of the United States Navy, launched on 15 March 1944. It was designed to transport and deliver fuel to naval vessels and support operations during World War II. The ship was named after the Kaskaskia River in Illinois and played a vital role in ensuring that fleet operations were well-supplied.
After serving in the Pacific Theater, the USS Kaskaskia was decommissioned in 1946 and later transferred to the Maritime Administration. It was ultimately sold for scrapping in 1973, marking the end of its service in support of the U.S. Navy and its missions.
