USS Kaskaskia (AOG-27) History
The USS Kaskaskia (AOG-27) was a gasoline tanker of the United States Navy, launched on 15 March 1944. She was commissioned on 30 June 1944 and served primarily during World War II, providing essential fuel support to naval vessels in the Pacific Theater. The ship was named after the Kaskaskia River in Illinois.
After the war, the USS Kaskaskia continued to serve in various capacities, including support operations during the Korean War. She was decommissioned on 1 July 1970 and later transferred to the Maritime Administration for disposal. The ship was ultimately scrapped in 1976.
