USS Kaskaskia (AO-27) History
The USS Kaskaskia (AO-27) was a fleet oiler of the United States Navy, launched on 15 March 1944. She was commissioned on 30 December 1944 and served primarily during World War II, providing essential fuel and supplies to naval vessels in the Pacific Theater. The ship played a crucial role in supporting operations during the war, including the invasion of Okinawa.
After the war, the USS Kaskaskia continued to serve in various capacities, including during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. She was decommissioned on 30 June 1970 and later struck from the Naval Vessel Register. The ship was ultimately sold for scrap in 1976.
