USS Kaskaskia (AO-27)
The USS Kaskaskia (AO-27) was a fleet oiler of the United States Navy, launched on 24 March 1944. Designed to supply fuel and other essential supplies to naval vessels, she played a crucial role during World War II and the Korean War. The ship was named after the Kaskaskia River in Illinois.
Throughout her service, the Kaskaskia supported various naval operations by refueling ships at sea, enhancing the operational range of the fleet. She was decommissioned in 1970 and later sold for scrap, marking the end of her nearly three-decade service to the U.S. Navy.
