USS Growler
The USS Growler (SSG-577) is a retired submarine of the United States Navy, launched in 1958. It was a part of the Fleet Ballistic Missile program and was designed to carry and launch nuclear missiles. The submarine was notable for its unique design, which included a distinctive sail and a hull that allowed for stealthy operations.
After serving for over two decades, the USS Growler was decommissioned in 1980. Today, it is preserved as a museum ship at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City, where visitors can explore its interior and learn about its role in Cold War history.
