USS Fletcher
The USS Fletcher (DD-445) is a Fletcher-class destroyer of the United States Navy, launched on June 3, 1942. It was named after Admiral Frank Friday Fletcher, a notable naval officer. The ship played a significant role during World War II, participating in various battles in the Pacific Theater, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Commissioned on December 27, 1942, the USS Fletcher was equipped with advanced weaponry for its time, including torpedoes and anti-aircraft guns. After the war, it continued to serve in various capacities until it was decommissioned in 1969. The ship is now preserved as a museum in San Diego, California.
