UN Partition Plan
The UN Partition Plan was a proposal by the United Nations in 1947 to resolve the conflict between Jews and Arabs in Palestine. It aimed to divide the territory into separate Jewish and Arab states, with an international administration for Jerusalem. The plan allocated about 55% of the land to the Jewish state and 45% to the Arab state.
The proposal was accepted by the Jewish leadership but rejected by the Arab leaders, leading to increased tensions. Following the plan's announcement, violence erupted, culminating in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, which resulted in significant changes to the region's borders and demographics.
