U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a federal agency established in 1965. Its primary mission is to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all. HUD oversees various programs aimed at improving housing conditions and increasing homeownership opportunities, particularly for low- and moderate-income families.
HUD also enforces fair housing laws to prevent discrimination in housing practices. The agency provides funding for public housing and community development initiatives, working with local governments and organizations to enhance urban development. Key programs include Section 8 housing vouchers and Community Development Block Grants.
