Types of Wounds
Wounds can be classified into several types based on their characteristics. Abrasions are superficial injuries that scrape the skin, while lacerations are deeper cuts caused by sharp objects. Puncture wounds occur when a pointed object penetrates the skin, and avulsions involve tearing away of skin or tissue.
Another classification is based on the wound's healing process. Acute wounds heal quickly, often within a few weeks, while chronic wounds persist for longer periods, sometimes due to underlying health issues. Understanding these types helps in proper treatment and care for injuries.
