Types of Hemorrhages
Hemorrhages are classified based on their location in the body. The main types include external hemorrhage, which occurs outside the body through a wound, and internal hemorrhage, where bleeding happens inside the body, often in organs or cavities. Internal hemorrhages can be further categorized into intracranial hemorrhage (bleeding in the skull) and intra-abdominal hemorrhage (bleeding in the abdominal cavity).
Another classification is based on the source of bleeding. Arterial hemorrhage involves blood loss from arteries, characterized by bright red, spurting blood. Venous hemorrhage comes from veins, resulting in darker, steady blood flow. Capillary hemorrhage is minor bleeding from capillaries, often seen in small cuts or scrapes.
