Type K Stars
Type K stars are a category of stars that are cooler than the Sun, with surface temperatures ranging from about 3,900 to 5,200 degrees Celsius. They emit a warm orange light and are often referred to as "orange dwarfs." These stars are typically smaller and less luminous than Type G stars, like our Sun, and they can have a long lifespan, lasting billions of years.
Type K stars are often found in various stages of their life cycle, including main sequence and giant phases. They are important for the study of stellar evolution and can host planetary systems. Some exoplanets discovered around Type K stars are considered potential candidates for habitable zones, making them of interest in the search for extraterrestrial life.
