Type 42 destroyers
The Type 42 destroyers are a class of guided-missile destroyers that were primarily used by the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom. Designed in the 1970s, they were built for air defense and anti-submarine warfare, featuring advanced radar and missile systems. The class includes several ships, with notable examples being HMS Sheffield and HMS Exeter.
These destroyers were equipped with the Sea Dart missile system, allowing them to engage aerial threats at long ranges. Although they have been retired from active service, the Type 42 destroyers played a significant role in naval operations during the Cold War and beyond.
