Tynwald Day
Tynwald Day is a national holiday celebrated on July 5th in the Isle of Man. It marks the annual meeting of the Tynwald, the oldest continuous parliamentary body in the world, which dates back over 1,000 years. The event features a ceremonial gathering where laws are enacted and the island's history and culture are celebrated.
During Tynwald Day, a formal ceremony takes place at Tynwald Hill in St. John's. The Lieutenant Governor and members of the House of Keys and Legislative Council participate, and the proceedings are conducted in both English and Manx Gaelic. The day also includes various festivities, such as music, food stalls, and traditional games.
