Tynwald is the parliament of the Isle of Man, a self-governing British Crown dependency. It consists of two branches: the House of Keys, which is elected by the public, and the Legislative Council, made up of appointed members. Tynwald is responsible for making laws, debating policies, and overseeing the government.
Tynwald is notable for its long history, dating back over a thousand years, making it one of the oldest continuous parliaments in the world. Every year, a special ceremony called Tynwald Day is held on July 5th, where laws are proclaimed in both English and Manx Gaelic.
