Tympanometry
Tympanometry is a diagnostic test used to evaluate the function of the middle ear. It measures how well the eardrum moves in response to changes in air pressure. This helps identify issues such as fluid in the ear, eustachian tube dysfunction, or perforated eardrums.
During the test, a small probe is placed in the ear canal, and air pressure is varied. The device records the movement of the eardrum, producing a graph called a tympanogram. This information assists healthcare professionals in diagnosing ear-related conditions and determining appropriate treatments.
