Turtle Species
Turtle species are diverse reptiles found in various habitats around the world, including oceans, rivers, and forests. They belong to the order Testudines and are characterized by their bony or cartilaginous shells, which provide protection from predators. There are over 300 species of turtles, ranging from the small Speckled Padloper Tortoise to the large Leatherback Sea Turtle.
Turtles are divided into two main groups: tortoises, which primarily live on land, and sea turtles, which inhabit marine environments. Many species are threatened or endangered due to habitat loss, pollution, and poaching. Conservation efforts are crucial to protect these unique creatures and their ecosystems.
