Turgot
Turgot was a French economist and statesman, born in 1727. He is best known for his role as the Controller-General of Finances under King {Louis XVI}. Turgot advocated for economic reforms aimed at reducing government spending and promoting free trade, which were innovative ideas for his time.
His most notable proposal was the {Turgot's Six Edicts}, which aimed to abolish feudal privileges and improve agricultural productivity. Despite his efforts, Turgot faced strong opposition from the nobility and was dismissed in 1776. His ideas later influenced economic thought and the development of classical economics.
