Tunica–Biloxi Tribe
The Tunica–Biloxi Tribe is a Native American tribe located in Louisiana, recognized by the federal government. They are descendants of the Tunica and Biloxi peoples, who originally inhabited the region before European colonization. The tribe has a rich cultural heritage, including traditional crafts, music, and dance.
In 1981, the Tunica–Biloxi Tribe gained federal recognition, allowing them to establish a government and manage their affairs. They operate the Tunica-Biloxi Gaming Authority, which includes a casino that contributes to the tribe's economic development. The tribe is also involved in preserving their language and traditions for future generations.
