Tularosa Basin
The Tularosa Basin is a large, arid valley located in southern New Mexico. It is bordered by the Sierra Blanca mountain range to the east and the San Andres Mountains to the west. The basin is known for its unique desert landscape, which includes vast stretches of sand dunes, particularly the White Sands National Park, famous for its gypsum dunes.
The basin is also significant for its geological features and rich history. It has been inhabited by various cultures, including the Mescalero Apache tribe. The area is primarily used for agriculture, ranching, and military testing, with the nearby Holloman Air Force Base playing a key role in the region's economy.
