Tube Worm
Tube worms are marine invertebrates that belong to the class Polychaeta. They typically live in deep-sea environments, often found near hydrothermal vents or cold seeps. These worms create protective tubes made of minerals and organic materials, which provide shelter from predators and harsh conditions.
Tube worms have a unique feeding system that relies on symbiotic bacteria. These bacteria convert chemicals from the surrounding water, such as hydrogen sulfide, into energy through a process called chemosynthesis. This allows tube worms to thrive in environments where sunlight is not available, making them an important part of the deep-sea ecosystem.
