Tskhinvali
Tskhinvali is the capital city of the South Ossetia region, which is a disputed territory located in the South Caucasus. It is situated in a mountainous area and serves as the administrative center for the region. The city has a population of around 30,000 people and is known for its unique cultural heritage and historical significance.
The region of South Ossetia declared independence from Georgia in the early 1990s, leading to ongoing political tensions. Tskhinvali has experienced conflict, particularly during the Russo-Georgian War in 2008, which further complicated its status. Today, it is recognized by a few countries, while most of the international community considers it part of Georgia.
