Tsetse Flies
Tsetse flies are large, blood-sucking insects found primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. They belong to the genus Glossina and are known for their role as vectors of diseases. These flies can transmit trypanosomiasis, commonly known as sleeping sickness in humans and Nagana in animals, which can be fatal if untreated.
Tsetse flies are typically found in wooded or bushy areas near water sources. They are attracted to movement and dark colors, making them more likely to bite people and animals. Control measures include insecticides, traps, and reducing their habitat to minimize their impact on livestock and human health.
