Tsawwassen First Nation
The Tsawwassen First Nation is an Indigenous community located in British Columbia, Canada, near the southern tip of the Metro Vancouver area. They are part of the Coast Salish peoples and have a rich cultural heritage that includes traditional practices, languages, and governance systems. The Tsawwassen First Nation gained self-governance in 2009 through a treaty with the federal and provincial governments, allowing them to manage their own affairs.
The Tsawwassen territory includes access to the Fraser River and the Salish Sea, providing vital resources for fishing and other traditional activities. The community is also known for its economic development initiatives, including the Tsawwassen Mills shopping center and the Tsawwassen Springs golf course, which contribute to their financial independence and sustainability.
