Tritanopia
Tritanopia is a type of color vision deficiency where individuals have difficulty distinguishing between blue and yellow hues. This condition occurs due to the absence or malfunction of the S-cones, which are responsible for detecting short wavelengths of light. As a result, people with tritanopia may perceive colors differently, often confusing shades of blue with green and yellow.
Tritanopia is relatively rare compared to other color vision deficiencies, such as red-green color blindness. It affects both men and women equally, unlike many other forms of color blindness that predominantly affect males. Diagnosis typically involves color vision tests, and while there is no cure, individuals can learn to adapt to their color perception challenges.
