Treaty of Yandabo
The Treaty of Yandabo was signed on February 24, 1826, marking the end of the First Anglo-Burmese War between the British Empire and the Kingdom of Burma. The treaty was negotiated after a series of military confrontations and established new borders, significantly reducing Burmese territory.
Under the terms of the treaty, Burma had to pay a large indemnity and cede important regions, including parts of Assam, Arakan, and Tenasserim. The treaty also allowed for the establishment of British trade in Burma, setting the stage for increased British influence in the region.
