Arakan
Arakan, also known as Rakhine State, is a coastal region located in the western part of Myanmar. It is bordered by the Bay of Bengal to the west and shares a border with Bangladesh to the north. The region is known for its diverse ethnic groups, including the Rakhine people and the Rohingya, each with distinct cultures and languages.
The economy of Arakan is primarily based on agriculture, fishing, and trade. The area is rich in natural resources, including minerals and oil. However, it has faced significant challenges, including political unrest and humanitarian issues, particularly concerning the treatment of the Rohingya population.
