Transnistria War
The Transnistria War was a conflict that occurred in the early 1990s between the breakaway region of Transnistria and the government of Moldova. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Transnistria declared independence in 1990, leading to tensions and violence. The war officially lasted from March 1992 to July 1992, resulting in a ceasefire agreement.
The conflict involved various ethnic groups, including Moldovans, Russians, and Ukrainians, and was marked by significant casualties and displacement. A peacekeeping force, primarily composed of Russian troops, was established to maintain stability in the region, which remains a self-declared republic but is not recognized internationally.
