Transfăgărășan
The Transfăgărășan is a scenic mountain road in Romania, known for its breathtaking views and winding turns. It stretches approximately 90 kilometers through the Făgăraș Mountains, connecting the regions of Transylvania and Wallachia. Built during the 1970s, it was initially constructed for military purposes but has since become a popular tourist attraction.
The road reaches an elevation of 2,042 meters at its highest point, making it one of the highest paved roads in Europe. It features numerous hairpin bends, tunnels, and viaducts, offering stunning panoramas of the surrounding landscape, including glacial lakes and rugged peaks.
