Traditional Korean House
A traditional Korean house, known as a hanok, is characterized by its unique architectural style that harmonizes with nature. These houses typically feature a wooden frame, clay walls, and a tiled roof, which is often curved at the edges. The layout usually includes a central courtyard, allowing for natural light and ventilation.
Inside a hanok, rooms are designed with sliding doors called changhoji, made of paper and wood, which provide flexibility in space usage. The floors are often heated using a system called ondol, where heat from a fire warms the stone floor, making it comfortable during cold seasons.
