Toxic Mold
Toxic mold refers to certain types of mold that can produce harmful substances called mycotoxins. These molds thrive in damp, humid environments and can grow on various materials, including wood, drywall, and carpets. Common types of toxic mold include Stachybotrys chartarum, often known as black mold, and Aspergillus species.
Exposure to toxic mold can lead to health issues, particularly for individuals with respiratory problems, allergies, or weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include coughing, sneezing, skin irritation, and in severe cases, lung infections. Proper moisture control and prompt removal of mold are essential for maintaining a healthy indoor environment.
