Tooth Anatomy
Tooth anatomy consists of several key parts. The outer layer is called the enamel, which is the hardest substance in the human body. Beneath the enamel lies the dentin, a softer tissue that supports the enamel and contains tiny tubules. The innermost part of the tooth is the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels, providing nourishment and sensation.
Each tooth is anchored in the jawbone by the root, which is covered by a layer of cementum. The visible part of the tooth above the gum line is known as the crown. Together, these components work to help with chewing and maintaining oral health.
