Tomato Hornworm
The Tomato Hornworm is the larval stage of the Five-spotted Hawk Moth. These caterpillars are known for their green color and distinctive horn-like projection on their rear end. They primarily feed on the leaves and stems of tomato plants, as well as other members of the nightshade family, such as peppers and eggplants.
Adult hawk moths are large and can have a wingspan of up to 5 inches. The larvae can grow up to 4 inches long and are often camouflaged, making them difficult to spot. While they can cause significant damage to crops, they eventually pupate into moths, continuing the life cycle.
