Tokugawa Mitsukuni
Tokugawa Mitsukuni (1628–1700) was a prominent Japanese feudal lord and a member of the Tokugawa shogunate. He served as the second daimyō of the Mito Domain, which was located in present-day Ibaraki Prefecture. Mitsukuni is known for his efforts in promoting education and culture, as well as his contributions to the development of the region.
Mitsukuni is also recognized for his role in the compilation of the Dai Nihon Shiryo, a historical record that aimed to preserve Japan's history and culture. His legacy includes the establishment of the Mito School, which emphasized Confucian teachings and influenced Japanese thought during the Edo period.
