Tissue Transplantation
Tissue transplantation is a medical procedure where healthy tissue is transferred from one part of the body to another or from one individual to another. This can include organs, skin, bones, and other tissues. The goal is to replace damaged or diseased tissue to restore function and improve the patient's quality of life.
There are two main types of tissue transplantation: autografts, where tissue is taken from the same person, and allografts, where tissue is donated from a different individual. Successful transplantation often requires careful matching of donor and recipient to reduce the risk of rejection by the immune system.
