Tiradentes
Tiradentes, born Joaquim José da Silva Xavier in 1746, was a Brazilian dentist and revolutionary leader. He is best known for his role in the Inconfidência Mineira, a movement aimed at gaining independence from Portuguese colonial rule in the late 18th century. Tiradentes was executed in 1792, becoming a martyr for Brazilian independence.
Today, Tiradentes is celebrated as a national hero in Brazil. His legacy is honored on April 21, the day of his execution, which is now a public holiday. The city of Tiradentes in Minas Gerais is named in his honor, reflecting his significance in Brazilian history.
