Tinamou
The Tinamou is a group of ground-dwelling birds found primarily in Central and South America. They belong to the family Tinamidae and are known for their plump bodies, short necks, and small heads. Tinamous are unique among birds because they are one of the few groups that can fly short distances, despite their heavy build.
These birds inhabit a variety of environments, including forests, grasslands, and wetlands. Tinamous are generally shy and secretive, often staying hidden in dense vegetation. They primarily feed on seeds, fruits, and insects, playing an important role in their ecosystems as seed dispersers.
