Tinamiformes
Tinamiformes is an order of birds that includes the tinamous, which are primarily found in Central and South America. These birds are known for their plump bodies, short wings, and strong legs, making them well-adapted for running and foraging on the ground. They are often secretive and prefer dense forests or grasslands.
Tinamiformes are unique among birds because they are the only group of flighted birds that are closely related to ratites, such as ostriches and emus. They have a distinctive, low-frequency vocalization and are known for their elaborate courtship displays. Despite their ability to fly, they are more commonly seen walking or running.
