Tigranes The Great
Tigranes the Great was a king of Armenia who reigned from 95 to 55 BC. He is known for expanding the Armenian Empire to its greatest extent, making it a significant power in the region. Tigranes established Tigranocerta, a new capital city, which became a cultural and economic center.
During his reign, Tigranes formed alliances with other powers, including Mithridates VI of Pontus. However, his empire faced challenges from the rising power of Rome. Tigranes was eventually defeated by Roman general Lucullus, leading to the decline of his empire and his eventual surrender.
