Tió de Nadal
The Tió de Nadal, also known as the Christmas log, is a traditional Catalan figure celebrated during the Christmas season. It is a wooden log with a painted face and a red hat, often placed in homes to bring good fortune. Families take care of the log by feeding it and covering it with a blanket, symbolizing warmth and care.
On Christmas Eve, the log is beaten with sticks while singing traditional songs, encouraging it to "poop" out gifts. After the songs, the log is opened to reveal sweets and small presents, making it a fun and interactive part of the holiday festivities in Catalonia.
