ThrustSSC
ThrustSSC is a supersonic car designed to break the land speed record. Built in the 1990s, it achieved a speed of 763 mph (1,228 km/h) in 1997, making it the first car to officially break the sound barrier on land. The vehicle is powered by two Rolls-Royce jet engines, which provide the immense thrust needed for such high speeds.
The car was driven by Andy Green, a British Royal Air Force pilot, during its record-setting run in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. ThrustSSC is a significant achievement in engineering and automotive design, showcasing the potential of combining jet technology with land vehicles.
