Thomas Sully
Thomas Sully was an American painter born on June 19, 1783, in England. He is best known for his portraits, which capture the likeness and personality of his subjects. Sully's work often featured prominent figures of his time, including politicians and artists, and he became a leading portraitist in the early 19th century.
Sully moved to the United States with his family when he was a child. He studied art in Philadelphia and later became a member of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His style combined elements of Romanticism and Neoclassicism, making his paintings both expressive and refined. Sully passed away on November 5, 1872.
