Thomas Howard, 5th Duke of Norfolk
Thomas Howard, 5th Duke of Norfolk (1536–1572), was an English nobleman and a prominent figure during the Tudor period. He was a member of the Howard family, one of the most influential families in England. The Duke was known for his strong Catholic beliefs and his opposition to the Protestant Reformation, which shaped much of his political life.
He was involved in various political intrigues, including claims to the English throne through his connection to the Mary, Queen of Scots. His ambition ultimately led to his downfall, as he was executed for treason in 1572, marking a significant moment in the turbulent history of the English monarchy.
