Third Seminole War
The Third Seminole War (1855-1858) was a conflict between the United States government and the Seminole people in Florida. It arose from tensions over land disputes and the U.S. government's efforts to remove the Seminole from their territory. The war was marked by guerrilla tactics used by the Seminole, making it difficult for U.S. forces to achieve a decisive victory.
Despite several military campaigns, the war ended without a clear resolution. The U.S. eventually recognized the Seminole's presence in Florida, leading to a gradual decline in hostilities. The conflict highlighted the ongoing struggles of Native American tribes against U.S. expansion.
