Second Seminole War
The Second Seminole War (1835-1842) was a conflict between the United States and the Seminole people in Florida. It arose from the U.S. government's efforts to remove the Seminoles from their lands and relocate them to Indian Territory west of the Mississippi River. The war was marked by guerrilla tactics employed by the Seminoles, led by leaders like Osceola.
The war was costly for both sides, resulting in significant loss of life and resources. Ultimately, the U.S. government was unable to fully subdue the Seminoles, and many remained in Florida. The conflict highlighted the challenges of U.S. expansion and the resistance of Native American tribes.
