Thiepval
Thiepval is a village in northern France, located in the Somme department. It is best known for its significance during World War I, particularly the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The area was heavily contested, and many soldiers lost their lives in the fighting.
The Thiepval Memorial is a prominent landmark in the village, commemorating over 72,000 British and South African soldiers who died in the Somme region and have no known grave. This memorial, designed by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, is an important site for remembrance and reflection on the sacrifices made during the war.
