Thermal Injury
Thermal injury refers to damage to the skin and underlying tissues caused by exposure to extreme heat, flames, or hot surfaces. This type of injury can result in burns, which are classified into degrees based on severity: first-degree burns affect only the outer layer of skin, while second-degree burns involve deeper layers, and third-degree burns can damage all layers of skin and underlying tissues.
Treatment for thermal injuries often includes cooling the affected area, cleaning the wound, and applying dressings. In severe cases, medical intervention may be necessary, including skin grafts or surgery to promote healing and restore function.
